Sun's Enterprise 420R was billed as packing “the most punch as a four-processor workgroup server” when it was introduced in November of 1999. Nearly dentical to the Enterprise 220R in many respects, the 420R uses one to four UltraSPARC[tm]-II processors, up to 4 GB RAM, and up two 9.1 GB, 18.2 GB, or 36.4 GB Ultra-1 SCSI disk drives, all in a 4 rack unit height.
The Sun Enterprise 420R was EOL'd (end-of-lifed) in December of 2002.
