Introduced in April of 2001, the Sun Fire 3800 server is a two to eight processor UltraSPARC[tm] Cu (copper based) III based system that used 750 MHz, 9000 MHz, 1050 MHz, and 1.2 GHz CPU modules.
Maximum memory was 64 ea. 1 GB DIMMs, giving the system a maximum memory capacity of 64 GB.
The Sun Fire 3800 also had the ability to run up two 3.5-in. Ultra-SCSI 18.2 GB, or 36.4 GB, 73 GB, or 146 GB disk drives.
The Sun Fire 3800 was EOL’d (end-of-lifed) in August of 2003, and replaced by the Sun Fire 1280.
