Sun | Netra 440 Server
Introduced in September of 2004, the Sun Netra is the carrier grade version of the popular Sun Fire V440. Like the V440, it is a flexible platform for delivering low-cost, horizontally-scalable services and solutions. Though comparable in most ways to the Sun Fire V440, there are some differences, notably the height of the server (5U instead of 4U), only two CPU speeds available – 1.28 and 1.593 GHz UltraSPARC IIIi processors, four 400 WATT AC or DC power supplies (instead of two 650 WATT power supplies), and the use of 15K RPM Ultra320 disk drives.
Other specifications for both systems are the same, with the Netra 440 capable of having up to 32 GB of memory, six PCI slots, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, identity transfer feature, and remote server management capability. The Netra 440 server was introduced in a RoHS version in May of 2006, and was EOL'd (end-of-lifed) in November of 2008. There is no direct replacement for the Netra 440 server.
