Sun | Sun Fire V490 Server
Introduced to the market in September of 2004, the Sun Fire V490 is the direct replacement for the Sun Fire Sun Fire V480. With UltraSPARC IV and UltraSPARC IV+ processors - ranging from 1.05GHz to 2.1GHz - in the V490, the performance of this 5 RU server is up to 5 times faster compared to UltraSPARC III based Sun Fire V480 servers. Up to four processors per box with eight threads and 32GB of memory make it ideal for securing and delivering multiple applications and business processes or distributed databases.
In July of 2006 Sun introduced a RoHS version of the V490, and in October of 2007 introduced the Sun Fire V490 2100. The Sun Fire V490 was EOL'd (end-of-lifed) in April of 2009, and replaced by the Enterprise M4000.
